Release Self-Doubt with This Grounding Somatic  Yoga Practice

Say buh-bye to self-doubt and welcome in a soft confidence—all in just 12 minutes. Sound too good to be true? Think again! This somatic yoga practice isn’t about forcing yourself to think positively. It’s about shifting the doubt from deep within your body so confidence can rise naturally. Through mindful movement, self-touch, and breath, you’ll be guided to reconnect with your inner power (cuz it’s in there!).

This class is perfect if affirmations feel hollow or if you’ve struggled to “think” your way into confidence. Instead of trying to fix yourself, this practice invites you to come home to yourself.

Grounding Meditation

Begin in a comfortable cross-legged seat. Bring one hand to your heart and the other to your belly—or both hands to your belly. Feel your breath rise and fall beneath your hands. With each generous inhale and exhale, allow the outside world to fade.

Third Eye Massage

Inhale deeply to reach your arms above your head, and bring your palms to touch. Exhale to draw your hands to your third eye (center of your forehead). Begin to gently massage this area in small, slow circles, softening the mind’s grip where doubt often creeps in.

Heart + Belly Massage

Let your palms travel down the front of your body. Place both hands over your heart and massage gently in circles like you did for your third eye. Then repeat the gesture at your belly (your second brain). This helps to remind your body it’s safe to release doubt and invite in trust instead.

Shoulder Dips

Place your hands on your knees. Inhale and puff your heart up to the sky. Exhale, dip your right shoulder and look left. Inhale back to center, then exhale to dip your left shoulder. Continue moving gently in this pattern to side to unwind tension in the spine and shoulders.

Windshield Wipers

Place your hands behind you and step your feet wide. Let your knees fall side to side in a windshield wiper-like motion. Notice how one side of the body feels compared to the other and how your hips feel in general. Witness the sensations without judging.

Energetic Clearing

Return to a seated position with the opposite shin crossed in front. Flex your palms in front of your shoulders. Exhale and push your arms forward to “clear” space. Inhale and draw the palms back to the heart with a gentle arch of the back. Repeat this for a few rounds, energetically creating space in front of you and where you’re headed. Imagine you’re pushing away self-doubt and calling in confidence.

Seated Reflection

Sit tall with your spine in neutral. Bring your hands over your heart and take a deep breath in. Hold the breath briefly at the heart center. Then release and rest your hands on your knees, palms up, index finger and thumb touching. Again, witness how you feel after some intentional movement.

Kick Out Self-Doubt

Come into a tabletop position. Begin tapping or kicking the tops of your feet into the ground. This might start soft and grow more vigorous. Kick are hard or as softly as you like. This could represent your anger being released, annoyance, or even sadness that you still deal with self-doubt. Let the movement be a release.

Child’s Pose

After the kicks, inhale into cow pose, then exhale into cat. From here, guide your sit bones back into child’s pose with your arms extended forward. Soften into the stillness you’ve created. After a few rounds of breath, press back into downward facing dog.

Aura Painting

Walk your feet to your hands and slowly roll up to stand. Inhale to reach your arms overhead and hook your thumbs. Exhale and forward fold with your hands still connected. Rise again and repeat. Imagine you are clearing and creating even more space around you for your confidence to fill.
