Best Area to Stay in Hvar

These are the top three most popular places to stay in Hvar. All of my suggestions below, however, are in Hvar Town since it is by far the most popular area to stay in.

Hvar Town

BEST FOR: Being close to all of the action

Hvar Town is the main area for visitors on the island. It is one of two spots where ferries come in, yachts dock and all of the action is. The Paklinski Islands are easily access from here, the old town is here, nightlife is here and beaches are close by.

Stari Grad

BEST FOR: History and charming streets

Stari Grab literally translates to old town. Close-by to Stari Grad ferries dock so it’s easily accessed and it has a much quieter atmosphere compared to Hvar Town. It is charming and plenty of tourists spot by so restaurants, shops and more are readily available.

Jelsa

BEST FOR: Getting away from it all

Jelsa is also a charming area on Hvar that is perfect for those who just want to relax. Wineries are close by for tastings, there are a number of secluded Hvar beaches and the area is surrounded by pine trees and the sea breeze.
