Finding where to stay in Canggu can be a task in itself as there are so many options (just like every area of Bali), hence this Canggu accommodation guide I’ve created. And as someone who spends a few months of the year living in Canggu I’d say I know all of the deets!
Canggu is a place in Bali where people of all ages and with all budgets come to just hang out, relax and enjoy the Bali lifestyle during their Bali holiday. But with so many places to choose from it can be overwhelming.

Best area to stay in Canggu
There are four main areas in Canggu, all of which have access to their own beaches of the same names and each having a slightly different vibe or Canggu attractions. But deciding on where to stay in Canggu by area is not difficult as getting around is easy.
Batu Bolong
BEST FOR: Being in the middle of the action and for non-drivers
Batu Bolong is the main area of Canggu with a ton of restaurants, shopping and the main party bar (Old’s Man). Stay here if you like being around all of the action as it’s the busiest area in Canggu. The main beach here is Batu Bolong Beach which has the most people and surfing happening.
Batu Bolong is also a good area to be in if you prefer to not drive a scooter. Taxis are also an option too.
Berawa
BEST FOR: The beach and less tourists
When I say less tourists, I do mean less tourists but they’re still around. Berawa is my personal favourite area in Canggu and where I choose to stay when I’m living in the Gu’. There are plenty of restaurants around that typically aren’t as busy as those in Batu Bolong and the streets are a little less crowded, just like the beach.
Berawa Beach is also home to the famous Finn’s Beach Club and has what I think are the best beach bars. Shopping, yoga, spas and all the other Canggu goodies are around. I do, however, recommend being able to drive a scooter or use a Go Jek if staying in this area.
Echo Beach
BEST FOR: Less hustle and bustle but still being in the action
I say there’s less hustle and bustle because the further away you get from the actual beach the less busy it gets, but you don’t have to go far for it to be a bit more quiet.
The Echo Beach area is still very much close to the action as it’s located next to Batu Bolong which is Canggu’s main centre. Echo Beach is great for restaurants, walking and has La Brisa, a super chill and beautiful beach club.
Pererenan
BEST FOR: Being away from the crowds
Pererenan is the up and coming area of Canggu that was once on the outskirts but is now where the digital nomads and some travellers are venturing over to. The roads are way less busy and it’s more peaceful.
The downside is that there are less restaurants but there still are some! The beach is just a beach, but beach bars are within walking distance from Pererenan Beach.
If you opt to stay in Pererenan I highly recommend being able to drive a scooter.
Best Mid-Range Canggu Hotels
Cheap hotels in Canggu exist, but they’re usually not called hotels. Typically you’ll find the most affordable accommodation in Canggu, apart from hostels, are guesthouses which are small (usually about 6-10 rooms) places to stay.
Canggu Spirit Guest House
Budget hotels in Canggu are everywhere but the price of this guesthouse for its location is fantastic and hard to be beat. Located in Batu Bolong but off of the main street so you avoid excessive noise, this guesthouse has pool or rice field views, some rooms including a balcony.
It is within walking distance to the beach, shopping and many restaurants. Each room is equipped with Wi-Fi and a kitchen is available for guests to use.
Wijaya Guesthouse
For accommodation near Berawa Beach, Wijaya Guesthouse is an excellent choice, located down a small side street in Berawa where it’s quiet but only a couple minutes walk to the main street with cafes and shops.
It is only a 10-mintue walk to Berawa Beach and Finn’s Beach Club, the most popular and largest beach club in Canggu. There is a large outdoor swimming pool and guests rave about the Asian style breakfast. Wi-Fi and parking is available on-site free of charge.
Kecik Inn
Just a 5-minute walk away from Echo Beach, Kecik Inn has an excellent location in the Echo Beach area that is set off of the main street but still close by to restaurants, spas and even La Brisa, a beautiful beach club known as being one of the best sunset spots in Canggu.
The accommodation includes a free breakfast that is continental or a la carte, Wi-Fi and includes a big pool.

Como Uma Canggu
One of the most notable properties in all of Canggu is the luxurious COMO Uma Canggu, one of the best hotels in Canggu. It’s located right smack in the middle of Echo Beach and Batu Bolong Beach. It’s set back and quiet, away from any noise with rooms that have panoramic views over the ocean.
A large pool is available for guests as well as an additional pool that is a part of the restaurant and bar and beach club set directly on the beach.
An exceptional breakfast is included and amenities include a spa, beach club attached and fitness centre. This is easily one of the best places to stay in Canggu for privacy, luxury and location.
Koa D Surfer Hotel
This quirky hotel is only a 6-minute walk from Berawa Beach and offers fun accommodation and style at an affordable price. It’s cosy and has a unique bamboo structure and murals.
You don’t even need to leave the property to go to the beach though, as on the rooftop you’ll find a pool and sand where you can lounge and see the ocean.
Some rooms have balconies overlooking green rice fields and a quiet street. On-site there is a surf shop and restaurant. Motorbike rental and transport is available.
Aston Beach Canggu
You can’t get a better location in Canggu than at Aston Beach Canggu. It’s located right on the main strip of Batu Bolong with an abundance of cafes, restaurants and shops practically on your doorstep.
The beach can be seen as soon as you step out and is only a 2-minute walk away. On the rooftop you can enjoy the large pool, lounge chairs, swings and bar, all of which you can see the ocean from. Breakfast is also included.

Best Villas in Canggu

Regali Villa Canggu
Spoil yourself with a stay at Regali Villa Canggu in the Echo Beach area, where it’s more quiet than the rest of Canggu. You can choose to enjoy breakfast in your own villa or at the on-site restaurant.
There is also an outdoor pool and spa centre. Each villa comes with its own private pool and garden with semi-open private bathrooms. Echo Beach is a 7-minute walk from this tropical oasis.
Villa Bliss
Villa Bliss is located in the quiet neighbourhood of the Umalas, right next to Canggu. Along with your accommodation, a stay at this villa includes complimentary access with a platinum card to Finn’s Recreation Club and free entrance to Finn’s Beach Club.
The property is a tranquil paradise with an outdoor pool that is close to both the main area of Canggu and Seminyak. For those who prefer to cook on their own, a full kitchen is available.
Theanna Eco Villa and Spa
This high-end villa has taken inspiration from Balinese and Scandinavian styles to create the villas that include their own private pools. Each villa is also equipped with an outdoor seating area and a kitchenette.
Echo Beach is a 6-minute drive away and the property offers free shuttles to parts of the surrounding area as well as bicycles. Of course, a spa is also available on-site.

Best Budget Canggu Accommodation

Kos One Hostel
This Canggu hostel has one of the best locations in Canggu. Just off of Batu Bolong, but tucked away from the main street, Kos One Hostel offers guests luxury hostel accommodation with furnishings that are sleek. This isn’t your typical hostel in Canggu. There is a swimming pool, hot tub, a swim-up bar and even a giant slide into the pool. This location gets busy with digital nomads on the weekend who come to enjoy the pool sun and live DJs.
Gypsy Moon Bali
Gypsy Moon Bali is one of the best hostels in Canggu for style, location, amenities and comfort. Picture yourself waking up in a private suite or small dorm room, surrounded by bright white walls, on a thick mattress in a quiet area that makes you feel like you’re in your own little oasis. This small hostel provides just that plus a gorgeous pool for the ultimate place to relax.
Canggu Castle
Located in Berawa (my personal favourite area in Canggu and where I live when I’m in Bali) is Canggu Castle, a newer hostel to Canggu that is just stunning. Think almost all white, chilled, beachy and a big clean pool.
The pool is a treat in itself as most in Bali are on the smaller side. What’s also great is that the hostel is set back from the main road so you can sleep soundly at night without hearing street noise.
Recent reviews are stellar describing the hostel as funky, fun and chill. Plus, its not far from the beach and one of best beach clubs in Bali, Finn’s.
