Why Book a Yoga Retreat in Bali?

It’s difficult to put into words the energy that Bali holds until you actually step foot onto the island. Known as the Island of Gods, Bali has become a mecca for yoga, not because yoga is a part of the culture here (though the island’s dominant religion is Hinduism, where yoga stems from), but because Bali is known as one of the most healing places on the entire planet.

And if healing isn’t your thing, don’t let that stop you from booking a yoga retreat in Bali as you’ll have over 600 choices of retreats to pick from.

Spirituality & Healing

There are ley lines that span across the globe, connecting some of the most incredible places on the planet such as Stonehenge and the Great Pyramid of Giza, just to name a few. It’s where these lines meet that there are great energy vortexes, with Bali being where some of these lines meet.

Bali is not just known for healing, but also for being a very spiritual place. It pulls in a great number of travellers who seek answers, exploration and beauty, many of whom choose to stay.

Regardless of whether you want to participate in a yoga retreat for healing or not, Bali is home to a number of top yoga teachers and studios from around the world. Pair the incredible talent of the teachers, along with the jaw-dropping nature of Bali, the spiritual significance of the island, and the energy vortex and you have one of the top yoga destinations in the world.

Beaches, Nature & Scenery

Want to practice yoga surrounded by rice fields? Bali’s got that. Or maybe you prefer to overlook the ocean, Bali’s got yoga retreats with those views too.

Without a doubt, you can’t go wrong with choosing a yoga retreat in Bali. It will completely uplift and transform your yoga experience. I know so, I even did my yoga teacher training in Bali!

Food

On a retreat you may be served exceptional local cuisine. Or you may opt to venture into town and explore the abundance of trendy cafes that serve of mix of traditional Balinese dishes and Western meals. Vegetarian and vegan options are around every corner here and there is something truly tantalizing for everyone’s taste buds in Bali.

Budget Friendly

You can indulge in the luxurious side of life in Bali for a fraction of the cost compared to places in North America and Europe. A week-long retreat here won’t set you back far, especially if you opt for a basic retreat that delivers yoga, but gives you plenty of free time to roam and explore.

But even if you crave being totally pampered after with a schedule fully made for you, there are options galore that are budget-friendly for all. Simply take your pick!

How to Choose a Yoga Retreat

While I’ve gone and done the research for you and picked out the top 10 yoga retreats in Bali based on my extensive knowledge of Bali and yoga plus what retreats are most popular, picking the perfect yoga retreat still comes down to what you prefer.

Follow these simple tips for picking a yoga retreat and you’ll be guaranteed a spectacular and relaxing time in Bali.

Pick your retreat based on how many nights you want.

Remember, all retreats will give you a certain amount of days, but oftentimes retreats do not include a full-day on the first or last day of the retreat. Look closely when booking as you will most likely get fewer days than you want and could opt for a longer retreat.

Check for inclusions.

Not all retreats are created equally. Many are all-inclusive, many are not. When looking at retreats in your budget be sure to check and see which meals are included, if any, along with what type of accommodation you want. Most retreats listed will include the shared room option when most will offer private rooms, but always for a higher price.

Know how much structure you want.

Some Bali yoga retreats have you to do your own thing and give you the option to attend yoga classes whenever you want. These yoga retreats often are not private retreats and typically allow outside visitors or those who regularly practice at the studio come in for classes.

Other yoga retreats have a lot of structure and are often a small group of people that come in for a week who practice, eat and go on excursions together.

If you prefer to be alone and don’t want the company, go with a less structured option. If you’d love to meet friends or interact with others, opt for a more structured option.
